Pepper Pad Plus - What the hell is it really?

clip_image004.jpg Is it a laptop?
Is it a Tablet PC?
Is it a PocketPC?
Is it a Personal Media Player?
Hmm.. Not really sure, I guess its a combination of all of the above.

It’s smaller than a laptop, about the same size as a tablet, bigger than a PocketPC and has a 20g hard drive. With a 624mhz Intel XScale processor, 256mb memory, Bluetooth 2.0, and WiFi it sounds like a PocketPC, but the size doesn’t match. The 800×600 8.4-inch LCD touchscreen sounds like a perfect view for movies and internet browsing. I think someone couldn’t figure out what device they wanted to carry, so made their perfect device a reality.

I think I should have gotten my wife this for Christmas instead of the ultraportable Dell 700m.

  1. I, however, think you made the right choice of Christmas gifts. 802.11b isn’t the greatest choice for a device aimed at wireless web-browsing and a proprietary OS doesn’t lend itself well toward expansion and a varied-use device. That and it looks like a toy I’d give my 8 year old son (If I had an 8 year old son, which I don’t).

  2. I guess I should have elaborated a tad more. For Christmas, I bought my wife a $1200 Ebay, Email, Internet Backgammon machine called the Dell 700m.

  3. LOL, Chris!!!
That’s exactly why I haven’t bought a notebook yet. I keep thinking I’ll have a need for it…but I don’t. The PC and pocketpc are enough.
