Does Verizon Wireless Spam their own?

I don’t know personally, but a story over at the Inquirer suggests that they do.

"AN IRATE Verizon Wireless user who complained about spam from his own cellular provider was initially told it was almost impossible to stop such messages. In a complete volte face, however, Verizon soon relented and sent details on how to stop such messages.

Upset that even his own network provider was sending him spam, this INQ reader was initially told by the Verizon helpdesk that any block on such messages would result in a block on all incoming messages."

This is bad, bad news, with all the junk going around, you are not safe from your own carrier.

  1. My friend has verizon and he does talk about how they send him messages every now and then….

  2. I got my first one from Cingular the other day, advertising their new international calling plans. Kind of annoying, but it’s the only one that I’ve received in about 4 months of service. Also, it was a “free text message,” so it didn’t count on my monthly allowance.

  3. are you talking about being contacted by email or text messaging or some other way?
