Google Pages Now Open

There has been a little bit of talk around the web about yet another service coming from the Google Empire, Google Page Creator, and how it should be a very interesting and neat way for people to make their own simple websites.
Well it looks like the service is up (but in beta) and already they are getting such a demand for new signups that they have closed new signups (for right now at least). But I am sure they will have it open very soon again (maybe even in a few hours).
Once you do get your account (you can use your Google Account for the login and signup process), you can make your own whatever.googlepages.com website. They supposedly offer a wide range of templates and a very good interface as well which helps to setup your own site.
Over at TechCrunch one of the authors was able to get an account and take a look around and even snap a….
Looks like another very slick Google System that will work well and of course be free without a ton of ads. I know everyone is worried about the Google Empire getting to big, but I really like how everything they do is very clean and works very well, and it looks like this will be another one of those things!
Of course though, I have the suspicion that this is mainly to keep up with other MSN services and services like GeoCities that are coming soon/have been around for awhile.
You can go to Google Page’s main site here:

This is perfect for Aunt Mable or Grandpa Joe. The interface is very clean and intuitive and it makes it simple for anybody to get a site up and running in just a matter of minutes.
No ads and 100MBs of space is also perfect for that level of user that just wants a simple web presence too.
I didn’t mess with it all that much, but it seemed pretty stable despite the few known bugs.
They are not taking any new accounts at this time. I submitted my email address when they have more capacity. Poor planning, did they not think it would get a lot of attention?
