Update 2 on Origami
Posted by Chris Leckness on 03/2/06 in General
After looking around this afternoon, I found a bit more info on the Origami that we will be seeing official details on March 9.
Engadget posted an update with some specs that we can expect:
-
Will be running XP Tablet Edition OS
-
Supposedly Pretty basic design
-
Price around $500
-
Also could go by name "LifeStyle PC"
Small update for now, but I am sure we will see a lot of new info on the official date of March 9.

I could see potentially giving up my 4700 for that…
It seems like it might be just a little on the big side for me, but I am very interested in seeing this and will be considering one.
I couldnt find the specs for that??? anyone have an idea?
They haven’t been publushed yet. March 9 should revel more.
I think it is the minimum accetpable size for a true mobile personal PC. I think a 5×7x0.5 form factor would be great. If I’m really going to watch video/dvd on a mobike device I don’t want to do it on a 2.5×2.5 inch screen. Same for true web browsing or using true office applications. I’ve often wished the 4700 was just a smidge bigger.
I agree that it is about the minimum size (from the looks of it). To retain full functionality, you have to have a bigger screen and device…if you went totally tiny, you would end up with a PPC again which requires mobile browsers and special apps
