Memory card giving you fits?

photosaver2.jpgThis afternoon I really screwed up. I took one Secure Digital memory card out of the card reader while it was attached to my computer, and then slid another one in. Uh oh. The next thing I knew I was in trouble; the memory card had messed up somehow and neither of my computers or cameras would accept it anymore. I had a bunch of priceless photos still on the card, of course, and had no way of rectifying the problem without formatting the card and losing all of my images. Dang it!

I found a simple solution on the internet, and while it is not at all new, I thought I would let you know how easy it was to use. I was forced to go ahead and format the card so that the computer would recognize it at all. Then I created a new folder on my desktop to capture the images. I downloaded a utility called Photo-Saver, went through the step by step instructions, and selected my newly created folder to restore all of the images to. It worked like a dream, and all of my photos are now back safe, thank heavens!  It took about ten to fifteen minutes to recover 395 images from my 1 GB card.

So just remember, if your memory card fails you, don’t give up- there are lots of solutions out there to retrieve your precious photos or documents.
