Google Maps Mobile with Live Traffic

In case this one missed you Google just released a new version of Google Maps Mobile that now shows real-time traffic. The application runs as a Java Midlet, so you should be able to run it on any phone that supports those including many Pocket PC Phones and Windows Mobile Smartphones.

Seems like the app is a wee bit buggy and some people have tried it with poor results.. Still in the style of all Google apps it is a beta so if you do have problems, come back later….

from the website:

Detailed directions: Whether you plan to walk or drive, your route is displayed on the map itself, together with step-by-step directions.

Integrated search results: Local business locations and contact information appear all in one place, integrated on your map.

Easily movable maps: Interactive, draggable maps let you zoom in or out, and move in all directions so you can orient yourself visually.

Satellite imagery: Get a bird’s eye view of your desired location.

Real-time traffic:New! See where the congestion is, and estimate delays in over 30 major US metropolitan areas

  1. Interesting concept. I went to download for my T-Mobile SDA phone, but under device compatibility, it says the Maps does not work with T-Mobile USA. Kind of a bummer, since the SDA phone is listed as a compatible device.
