Dell’s AMD-based notebooks coming Q4,

It seems like nobody can keep a secret any more…

Dell will extend its support for AMD processors to notebook machines in early to mid-Q4, it has been claimed. The line-up will encompass 15.4in and 17in models based on Turion 64 X2, Mobile Sempron and Mobile Athlon 64 CPUs.

So say sources close to Taiwan’s contract manufacturer community, cited by DigiTimes. Quanta, they claim, will make the 15.4in machines.

Dell announced AMD-based server products in May this year. Since then the rumour mill has been spinning furiously with allegations that AMD-equipped desktops are on the way too, in September it’s said. The notebook launches will complete AMD’s spread across Dell’s PC product lines.
