Did you know that Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2 has a troubleshooter?

I didn’t but now I do because of Chris De Herrera’s Windows CE Website.  Chris has an absolutely incredible collection of facts that will most assuredly solve any active sync problem that you might encounter.  Chris recently posted:

As part of the ActiveSync 4.2 release, Microsoft now includes an ActiveSync Troubleshooter.  The troubleshooter analyzes the ActiveSync log files for errors and refers users to the Microsoft website for solutions.  To access the troubleshooter, open ActiveSync on your PC and click on Help - Troubleshooter for ActiveSync.  In some cases the troubleshooter will open to assist a user with a problem.

  1. except the download from microsoft fails - can the troubleshooter help that?

ActiveSync 4 sucks - I really hate it compared to earlier versions.

ActiveSync 3 let you choose which contacts to sync to your phone. I have hundreds of contacts in outlook but only put 20 on my phone. That feature was removed in ActiveSync 4.

  2. Whoa, this was weird. I read this post yesterday and when I opened my laptop this morning, the troubleshooting wizard opebed up too! I have had this installed since it was released and I have not had it pop up. Jack what are you doin to us!!!! :)
