I have just drifted back to the dark side of the PDA world, in a small sort of way. I am using a Treo 650 PDA/Phone for my work now, after trying several different Pocket PC based phones. But that’s not the point of this blurb. Having made the purchase, I wanted to have the best protection available for this rather spendy phone. Since I’m paying for both the phone and the case, I wanted it to be a good match.
After some research, I purchased a Vaja iVolution T-66 case a dark blue one. For those of you who may not be aware of Vaja, they are located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and specialize in hand-made cases for electronic gadgets. I have used them before, and their quality is second to none.

The ordering process is very simple, you just have to go to their website. You make the selection of the type of device you want a case for, be it PDA, MP3 player, even the Sony PSP. They then step you through the process of selecting the type of case. For the Treo, they offer a classic case, along with two iVolution styles.

There are different types of leathers that you can choose from, and literally thousands of color combinations. The pictures represent the actual case colors, but variations in leathers can sometimes make them appear different when you physically see one. For example, the one I ordered is several shades darker than it is in the picture. You then have a couple of options that you can select from, such as engraving, clip, etc. Then you finalize your order and presto, it’s done.
There are a couple of things to remember. One, these case are not sitting on a shelf, ready to ship out. They are hand-made, and are not even made until they are ordered. It takes around 15 business days for one to be built, but that can vary. It took 9 days from the time I ordered until the case was shipped. Around the holidays, it can take as long as 30 to 40 days. Another thing is that once your order is placed, it cannot be cancelled. These are custom cases, made to order, and once you have placed the order, it cannot be stopped.
The prices of the cases are on the spendy side, compared to what you can pay for other cases. But the one trademark of a Vaja case is the quality that goes into it. In life, you have to pay for quality. I have used several of them for other devices, and all you have to do is see one and use it, and you will see that it worth every cent that you pay for it. Their customer support is very responsive, polite, and will answer any and all questions. They ship via Federal Express, and provide complete shipping information when they ship. My case was shipped on a Thursday, and delivered on the following Monday.
Do I buy all of my cases from them? No, I use a Sena flip case on my hx2755 PDA. But I do consider Vaja cases when I am looking. They sell a quality product at a reasonable price, and they stand behind what they sell. You can’t ask for much more than that out of a company.
