Cingular Palm Treo 750 - Day 4

treo750vb.jpg It’s not really fair to make day 4 cover 3 days, but it’s my ball and I will take it home if you don’t let me! After all, I went to bed at 4am Saturday Morning and woke up at noon. Then I didn’t sleep again until 1am Monday Morning. (except for 20 min of Chicago’s dismantling of New Orleans in the NFC Championship Game)

Anyhow, so far the Treo 750 has been superb for me. I did find on glitch that I can live with but I fear it could escalate and its sort of annoying. Sometimes the audio from a call or an email being pushed to the Treo come out sounding overdriven or clipped or something weird sounding. I can describe the sound exactly, but it is the sound you hear when you blow a speaker. One time, the Treo did not come back. Sounds left the room period. A soft reset cleared that right up and it hasn’t happened again yet. I have an email into Palm reporting this and hope that it’s an isolated instance.

Let’s talk about call quality. I know I promised some entertainment reporting, but I haven’t had time to "play". So, for now. Work. Call Quality is superb. Carriers vary from city to city, but phones don’t. In my town, Cingular’s coverage is superb but Sprint’s is not so great. Comparing the 700wx to the 750 would not be entirely fair with that known, but the 750 sounds much better. I don’t think it’s the phone though. It has to be the coverage. I was talking with my father the other day and he asked what phone am I using this week. I told him the Treo 750 and he was surprised. He gets good clarity from the Treo 650 himself. Once I left the noisy room I was in, he said I sounded like I was right there. In fact, he mentioned that it was the best sound quality of any phone I had called from in a while. Others have made comment on the sound quality when promted for a response too.

Why does sound quality matter? Simple, it’s a phone. Many Pocket PC phones seem to sacrifice a little on the phone side to keep the PDA side good, but it’s clearly not the case here. The Treo 750 has a wonderful phone experience for you. It’s just great that you also have the added functionality of a great PDA too.

Oh, this day’s entry brings great news about Palm and I. I have won a Treo from Palm’s Microblog Contest. Thanks for all the support there guys!
