SkypeOut – calling ordinary phones cheaply

I have been a Skype user for some time and have been really happy with it the entire time.  Last year, they offered a program where you could call any phone in the US and Canada at no charge.  That sounded "sorta cool" so I tried it, liked it and used it through out the year.  Of course, I knew it was going to be short lived but what the heck, use it while you can.

Well the year went by and in December the folks at Skype announced that they would now be charging for the service and it would cost $29.95 but they were going to have an introductory offer - half price until the end of January!  For me, this was an offer I couldn’t refuse.  The service had been terrific, the call quality was always great and when I’m in Maine at my lake house I don’t always get a cell signal.  As a matter of fact, it is more the rule not to have a signal so this service was important to me.

I signed up and made my first call from my home PC … worked perfectly!  Cool!  I was all set … or at least I thought I was.  I then tried it on my tablet … NO LUCK!  It would not work!  I kept getting a call failed error message.  So I checked my PC and it still worked … hmm, I had a problem.  The reason for this was to be able to call while I am away and it was clearly going to be something that will enhance my ability to Experience Mobility but it was NOT working.

So I sent the folks at Skype an email, waited a day and I had a reply.  Of course it was not the fix so I replied back and several days went by, another email arrived, and again it was not the solution so I replied again and waited for the response.  I had a feeling that I was not going to get this to work … bummer.  But then I got another email with a question.  I replied and in another day I got an email saying that they apologized for the problem, it was fixed and try it now.  So I did … it worked and it worked perfectly!  Ah, I was one very happy camper!

So, I know have a means of calling any phone in the US and Canada from my PC or Tablet and it only cost $14.95 …. very cool, NO, very SLICK!  It works, it works well, it’s worth the money and I know know that if you need help, the folks at Skype are there and will work it out …. it may take a few emails but they will do it!

Thank you SKYPE for the great service!
