Apple TV … more powerful than a steaming locomotive!

With the almost immediate “hacks” that became available for the NEW Apple TV, you wonder if Apple really knew  about the potential of this device and decided just to let people play around, discover the possibilities, design the “hacks” and let the device take on a life of its own.  I tend to think that is just the case.

In any event, the hacks are there and more will be coming as these industrious and creative folks examine the possibilities.  The only question is … what will be next?

Gadgetell posted a story referencing Engadget and entitled their piece “Apple TV Hacked for RSS and video games; Microsoft hearts next?”.  I did get a kick out of the new tag line for Apple’s new device; the “Mac nano”.

So what can you now do with the Apple TV?  RSS feeds right from your TV … very cool and there was a video showing a game emulation although it did seem a little convoluted … but it was working.  And then we have a $1000 bounty for a hack that enables external drive support through the USB port.

Check out the links above, pretty SLICK stuff!
