Toshiba Announces 4GB microSDHC Card
Posted by gasusan2005 on 06/30/07 in Toshiba
Toshiba has announced that it has expanded its line of small-format, high-speed, high-capacity memory cards with the launch of a 4 GB microSDHC card. Toshiba’s microSDHC cards range from 256 MB up to 4GB.
Toshiba’s 4GB microSDHC card meets SD memory card standard Ver 2, the SDHC card standard for SD products with a capacity of over 2GB. The card is designed for use in dedicated microSDHC slots, but can also be used in standard SDHC card slots in an adapter.
The market for high density memory cards is expected to grow alongside increasing demand for digital equipment, such as mobile phones that can record and display video and high resolution images. Toshiba will continue to expand and upgrade its SDHC and SD Memory Card series to meet the growing demand for high-speed, high-capacity products.
The new cards will be available worldwide beginning in July.
AT&T says almost sold out of Apple iPhones
Posted by gasusan2005 on 06/30/07 in Apple, At&t, iPhone
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - AT&T Inc. sold almost all its initial stock of Apple Inc.’s iPhone within hours of the device going on sale, an AT&T spokesman said on Saturday.
An Apple spokesman was not immediately available to comment on the number of iPhones sold at its 162 U.S. outlets.
The combination cell phone, media player and Web browser went on sale at AT&T and Apple stores on Friday at 6 p.m. in each U.S. time zone in the most anticipated gadget launch of the year.
“Virtually all of our stores sold out of the iPhone last night,” AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel said, declining to specify how many units had been sold.
AT&T, which runs about 1,800 stores in the United States, was still taking orders for iPhones and giving customers the option of picking the handset up in a store later or having it shipped to them directly, Siegel said.
Asked about problems that some iPhone buyers were having with activating their phones, Siegel said the “vast majority” of customers were able to begin using their phones within minutes.
“There are some whose activation process is being delayed and that’s something that can happen in a launch like this and we’re resolving those on a case-by-case basis,” Siegel said.

The Z8 starts its debut …
Posted by Jack Cook on 06/30/07 in Smart Phones
No word yet when this sleek NEW entry from Motorola will come to the US but it will come and it will be a great device to have. The following is a press release from Motorola announcing the availability of the Z8 in Spain.
The “media monster” has landed.
Motorola, Inc. announced the immediate availability of the MOTO Z8 kick-slider handset in Spain, with other parts of Europe and Asia to follow. The Z8, a complete entertainment center, offering mobile TV, video and music from one unique device, is available through Telefónica via Movistar.
“We are excited to deliver our media monster to mobile entertainment fans around the world, beginning with Spain,” said Allen Burnes, corporate vice president and general manager, Motorola Mobile Devices, EMEA and India. “With the Z8, consumers can listen to music, download video, create blogs and record and store memories all from the best multimedia platforms available today.”
iPlayer TV FAQ…. absolutely nothing to do with Apple
This isn’t anything to do with the iPhone.. no honestly it isn’t.. please don’t stop reading….
Ok,., if there’s anyone still reading this I thought I’d talk about iPlayer.. The new launch from the BBC which will let all of its viewers catch up on television that they’ve missed from the last 7 days. Initially it’s going to be rolled out on Windows PCs which has caused some complaints from people who would prefer it to be on a technology neutral platform. And the bad news is that it’s unlikely to work on windows mobile devices either..
Still on the plus side, Apple (drat, I wasn’t supposed to mention those) users, and Virgin media customers should be able to get it in a couple of months, and then freeview people will be allowed to join the party by the end of the year.
FAQ: What and when
What do I need?
To download iPlayer software you need a PC with Windows XP, Internet Explorer 6.0 or later and a broadband connection of 512kbps or above.
What can I watch?
A choice of 400 hours of programs from the previous seven days.
Why only the last seven days?
The BBC argues it needs to protect its partners and its own rights, in order to make money from DVD sales and paid-for downloads.
When does it launch?
The full “open beta” launch will be on July 27.
Unlike most broadcasters, the BBC doesn’t make it’s money from advertising, instead most of its revenue comes from a License Fee that every household has to pay if they own one or more televisions. In order to justify this, the BBC needs to keep a large market share.. and hence prove that it is providing a universal service for all… And if it means that I will never miss an episode of Dr Who again, then I’ll be a happy bunny
