ClosetCash: First Classified-Ads Site for Mobile Devices Goes Online

Today the launch of ClosetCash.com, the first classified-ads application developed specifically
for Windows Mobile smartphones and pocket PCs, was announced. imageClosetCash is the perfect application for owners of Windows Mobile devices who wish to sell an item as quickly and hassle-free as possible.

Here’s how it works:

Sellers

  • go to ClosetCash.com on their Windows Mobile smartphone or Pocket PC
  • click on the download option that applies to their device
  • click on the ClosetCash logo now appearing in their Programs folder
  • register

Posting an item

  • Click on the ClosetCash logo in your Programs folder and login
  • Identify an item you wish to sell (your first iPod, for example)
  • Select the appropriate item category (”electronics”) and subcategory (”MP3 player”)
  • Briefly describe the item (”Two-year-old 40 gig iPod that works like new.”)
  • Set a price (”$120″)
  • Photograph the item with your smartphone or Pocket PC
  • Hit the send button, which will transmit the photo and text to ClosetCash
  • Await contact from buyer

The entire posting period — from login to send — can take as little as 90 seconds. There’s no auction period to wait out, no need to load a photo to a computer and from the computer to the Web, no need to give a sales percentage to eBay, none of that. And if you’d like, you can click on an option that lets buyers see a map of your approximate location. That feature makes sense — and cents! — for items such as children’s clothes and toys that you’d rather not pack, address and ship when there’s likely
someone in your area willing to pick them up.

What about the buyers? They can shop ClosetCash items using any Internet-accessible device, including the iPhone, without even registering.

ClosetCash exploits the simplicity of a proven model (classified advertising), the increasing number and popularity of Windows Mobile devices, faster upload speeds, and major advancements in converging technologies, including GPS capability on wireless handheld devices and impressive resolution gains in camera-enabled phones.
