Third Internet Tablet a slider ?
Posted by gasusan2005 on 09/30/07 in MID, Mobile Internet Device, Nokia
Remember the photo above from Engadget? Click that link for more of them. Well - there’s now a VERY good chance that it could be an early prototype of the third Internet Tablet. A new document was made available this morning with this little tidbit:
The above image was taken from page 6 of this PDF. Note the two tables are labeled “slide open” and “slide closed.”

Think Different
Here is a video made by some creative individual that was clearly frustrated with the antics of Apple … it is very entertaining!
Thank you to all of the "misfits" and "crazy ones" who have worked to improve the iPhone! Please keep on "changing things"!
What happened to "Thinking different"?
Let the misfits and crazy ones improve the iPhone and improve the world!

Review: Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones
Posted by Chris Leckness on 09/30/07 in Headsets, Mobilitysite Reviews, Motorola, Music phones, Wifi / Bluetooth
Wow, a keen-looking pair of dual-purpose headphones for review, and a Motorola branded one, as well.

The MotoRokr S9 Stereo BT hands-free headset
Upon unboxing these headphones (see Chris’s unboxing or Radimus’s unboxing), my first impression was that they looked pretty good, and that they were quite light. That’s always important for something you are potentially going to be wearing for hours at a time. You don’t want a weighty albatross sitting on your head while you rock out to your tunes. The package included the headphones, a charger, manuals, and two spare pairs of earcups. These come in two sizes: Medium (two sets of the smaller size including the ones on the headphones already) and Ginormous. I tested the flexibility of the headband and am happy to note that they are very flexible without being too flimsy. My older BT headphones have a problem with being rather brittle and have split at the middle; you will not have this problem with the S9. The controls are: on the left, Phone hook, volume up, and volume down. On the right, Play/Pause, track forwared and track back. Unboxing, I noticed one of the information cards that came with the S9 says that you should operate it with the sending device (we’ll say phone, for simplicity) above your waist. Hmmmm!
More after the break….

Switchback UMPC

The SwitchBack is virtually one of those machines that you can take every where. And when I said everywhere that includes those places where you would think many times before you take a PC in there.

… How To Downgrade a Bricked iPhone
A thread at the Hackint0sh forum bubbles with glee. To quote forum user Sparx’s refinement of a technique originally reported by Kmac1985:
"These instructions currently only work with iNdependence on the Mac. It will unbrick your iPhone -but- will not restore cellular service, only wifi.

Juke, Pearl, Venus and Voyager - That’s What Will Be There
Posted by Jack Cook on 09/29/07 in Verizon Wireless
Yesterday I posted this article on Sony and Verizon …. The "Teaser Web Pages. It seems to be the new trend to entice people to go look, anticipate, guess and develop a little device envy. Well it appears as if the Verizon page has been "outed" with an exclusive scoop from Engadget Mobile. Heck, I even think that when the page is "officially" updated that they ought to include the Engadget Mobile watermark … I did!!
Apparently due to launch in a couple of weeks, Verizon is prepping a phone blitz of fairly epic proportions. The new Samsung Juke, BlackBerry Pearl, LG Venus and LG Voyager are due for simultaneous arrival on the market, and are sure to turn heads. On the far left is the "Juke," Verizon’s name for that U470 we spotted a couple weeks ago, which is supposed to arrive with 2GB of storage, A2DP Bluetooth and a 1.3 megapixel camera. Next up is the "new variety" Pearl rumored since August, with a 2 megapixel camera, A2DP and a 3.5mm audio jack. One to the right is the dual screen "Venus" slider, also known as the LG VX8800. The phone rocks miniSD expansion, A2DP, a 2 megapixel camera and some interesting touchscreen capabilities, including vibration feedback. Finally we have the beast of the bunch on the far right, the LG Voyager, also known as the VX10000. The phone sports a large external touchscreen, along with a lateral-clamshell form factor that opens up into a QWERTY keyboard and another well-sized screen, both screens are QVGA. Verizon is bragging of a full HTML browser, along with the expected microSD expansion, 2 megapixel camera, A2DP and some built-in stereo speakers.
MScape Game Demo
Posted by ctitanic on 09/29/07 in Game Systems
All I know is that’s something that HP is preparing. It’s a game that use GPS and a machine, a powerful machine judging the graphics on it. is it a UMPC or a MID? I don’t know.
The game seems to be a very interesting concept where the physical exercise is combined with some strategical thinking and probably some puzzles.
Backup those contacts!
Here is a solution for backing up your contacts for when you get stuck and cannot restore from your device. You don’t need a computer, software or data cable … just connect the Backup-Pal and it will instantly download and saves a copy of your cell phone’s address book. Pretty and reasonably priced at $39.99 for cell phones with serial ports, and $49.99 for cell phones with USB.
What devices does it support?
Backup-Pal’s adapters are able to interface with phones based on the brand of the phone (Nokia, Motorola, SonyEricsson, etc.) and the technology/interface that that phone supports. Backup-Pal is compatible with a majority of phone brands in the market. Please stay tuned for a complete list of brands and model numbers on our website shortly. Backup-Pal works independent of the carrier and the network technology that the carrier uses (GSM/CDMA/3G). As for the international support, the Backup-Pal storage format uses Unicode encoding, therefore enabling Backup-Pal to function in multilingual environments.
So is it available for my Windows Mobile devices? No, not yet but IT WILL BE! We will try to keep our eyes open for this … it has the potential of being a terrific safeguard against lost contacts!
You can check out the FAQ here.

HTC Touch Slide … and it uses 3rd party applications!
There are certainly a lot of devices scheduled for launch and this is one that looks like it might well grab the attention of quite a few folks .. maybe even a few disgruntled iPhone owners.
Formally referenced with the codename "Nike," the HTC Touch Slide has a lot to offer in a neat little package. Featuring a slide-out keyboard and a 3G radio, it has WiFi, 128MB RAM and 256MB of Flash.
You can check out a few pictures here at the Engadget Gallery.

Disappointed? I would be too if I bought an iPhone!
You have all heard it, the newly released firmware 1.1.1 for the iPhone is out and gives you a cool wireless iTunes store but it also has locked down the ability to use third party applications after the iPhone update. It’s sad, very sad that Apple, in their infinite knowledge of knowing what is best for the consumer, would take away that one aspect that could propel this device into greatness.
Coders from all over the world have developed applications that have made the iPhone the device of choice for many but now it is becoming the device to "put in the drawer". Of all the articles that I have read over the past two days, Brian Lam’s article "iPhone Revisited (Verdict: Don’t Buy)" sums it all up the best. Take the time to read this piece … it is well worth it.
You also might want to catch this video of a poor guy who found out that since he applied a 3rd party application, he is SOL! That’s right, "Once you put 3rd party applications on, it’s no longer supported by Apple". The look on his face when he realized that he made a very expensive mistake makes you feel for him.
One can only hope that the world of hackers are smarter than Apples’s coders and will help Jean(and others) bring his device back to life….
Well, while you are reading Brian’s article and watching the video, I’m going to install a new 3rd party application on my Palm 750 … Microsoft just does it better!

Hello. Please excuse a few formatting issues and problems you might experience over the next few days. I am working on a new look for Mobility Site’s news section that offers a more modern look with better access to features, reviews, etc.
I thought I had it all worked out on my test site so I decided to take it live tonight. Well, I missed quite a few little things. I could take it down and return to the old, but then I would “HAVE TO” get it done ASAP. Right?
Anyhow, I hope the changes are well received and make the experience more enjoyable. Soon you will be able to find all the old podcasts, videos, and reviews much easier.
Sony and Verizon …. The "Teaser Web Pages"
Posted by Jack Cook on 09/28/07 in Sony, Verizon Wireless
So we have a couple of teaser web pages out there to get your "device envy" juices running.
Electronista let us know that Sony had a site up teasing us with Drive image. The secretive website is teasing users with an upcoming device, according to a new discovery. Known only as the Drive, the device does not have any clear purpose ….
There is a lot of speculation that it might be an all-in-one computer or possibly a mountable GPS unit. Hey, it may even be a special toaster oven….
Check out the Sony page here and guess what it is.
And Verizon is taking advantage of the secretive web pages too. The Boy Genius reported that it appears the BlackBerry Pearl 2 along with the Samsung U470, LG VX8800, and LG VX10000 will be joining Verizon Wireless’ lineup come Wednesday morning.
The carrier has posted a teaser site, in which mouse movements shine light upon dark silhouettes of four upcoming devices. Hmmm … what could they be? Is one a Blackberry Pearl 2?
Check out the Verizon Wireless page here

Where O Where is my package? I have been waiting on a package for a while. Realizing that my order from the Apple Store had not arrived yet, I decided to check the shipping number on the Fed Ex website. You’ll never guess what I found. Well, you won’t have to guess, I’ll show you.
Ugh, a package sitting in Atlanta, just 3.5 hours from my house, for 6 days? UNACCEPTABLE! I was told to wait for a call back yesterday. Today I did get someone that seemed to care about my situation, but caring doesn’t get my package here 5-6 days ago. At minimum, it’s looking like Monday and that is really stretching it.
Who has a new iPhone in Atlanta?
