A "’downgrade" to XP option"?

win Apparently Microsoft is allowing PC makers to offer a downgrade option to buyers of NEW machines that have Vista Business and Ultimate editions but want to switch to Windows XP.  I can understand it … there is just too much that does not work.  And there is even issues with buying a PC with fro example Vista Home and trying to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.  I just got a new Sony desktop that came with Vista Home Premium, did the upgrade to Vista Ultimate and everything was fine (it was almost perfect) EXCEPT the audio drivers were not compatible with Ultimate and there were no updated drivers available.  Go Figure!

Evidently, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo and Dell are providing customers with the ability to downgrade and some are still selling their PCs with XP pre-installed, the question really is how long will that last?

What would you do?  I plan to keep Vista on all but one of my PCs.  I’ll keep an XP machine going until I eventually migrate to all new peripheral devices that are truly Vista compatible and yes, I will again upgrade my new PC to ultimate as soon as a new driver is out.
