Electric Pocket, award winning developer of wireless applications for PDAs and smartphones, is thrilled to announce its LobsterTunes media player for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs has won the Treo Windows Mobile Challenge sponsored by Palm, Inc. and Microsoft. LobsterTunes was the top choice out of over 100 entries.
Entrants were challenged to develop a hot new software solution or port an exciting software solution to the Windows Mobile platform. Entries were judged on concept originality, general usability of the application, specific utility to mobile phone users, reliability and compatibility, and their “Wow” factor of graphical look and feel.
As the Grand Prize Champion, Electric Pocket has won a lucrative prize package topped off by a $10,000 cash prize.
LobsterTunes offers a rich mobile music experience that provides over-the-air access to a music collection stored on a home PC. When launched on the Pocket PC, LobsterTunes immediately goes online via WiFi or 3G and connects to music folders stored on the PC. Users can then browse the music library and build a playlist of the tracks they want to hear. LobsterTunes also enables users to listen to Internet radio and will cache hundreds of tunes to SD cards.
Unlike some mobile music solutions, LobsterTunes is much more than a streaming music player - it is a full-featured MP3 player. It comes equipped with features expected of any MP3 player, including Shuffle, Repeat and Electric Pocket’s popular QuickMix. This feature, made famous in Electric Pocket’s Busker MP3 player, gives you a random playlist at the press of a button.
LobsterTunes is available now for an introductory price of US$19.95.
