Sprite Mobile announces Sprite Backup 6.1

New Sprite Backup Solution Addresses Windows Mobile 6 Storage Card Encryption Gap

image Sprite Mobile Inc. today announced the launch of Sprite Backup 6.1, the newest edition of the award winning Microsoft Windows Mobile backup and recovery software. Sprite Backup 6.1 adds significant new functionality to its already powerful feature-set and is the first solution of its kind to fully support Windows Mobile 6 storage card encryption. It addresses an oversight in the design by Microsoft which rendered encrypted data inaccessible after a device hard-reset. It also offers additional off-device content protection with its remote backup capability which allows backups to be sent over-the-air. Sprite Backup 6.1 also now provides smartphone owners a way to move their phone content to a replacement handset.

Sprite Backup is designed to create a backup image of your mobile device, including contacts, calendars, data, applications, configuration and settings. This image can be quickly and easily restored to your device if ever you need to do a hard-reset, effectively allowing you to be back up and running within minutes, not hours.

Greater choice for customers. In order to meet the needs of two markets, two versions of Sprite Backup 6 are being offered. Users who want full flexibility in the way they manage their backup and recovery process will want Sprite Backup 6 Full Edition. This version offers all of the functionality that previous versions provide, as well as the backup card functionality. More cost-sensitive users who just want fast, reliable device backup will be satisfied with Sprite Backup 6 Lite Edition. The Lite Edition provides all of the on-device functionality including all of the Windows Mobile 6 features, but does not include remote backup capabilities.

Sprite Backup 6 continues to be the only backup product in the market that supports full protection for ROM upgrades for both Pocket PC and Smartphone devices. Upgrading system ROM always requires a hard reset, and backup programs that do not support ROM upgrades are all but useless for restoring the device.

Sprite Backup 6.1 is available today. The Lite Edition has a MSRP of $19.95 USD, while the Full Edition of Sprite Backup 6.0 has a MSRP of $29.95 USD.
