2007 - A Year of Accomplishments
Posted by Chris Leckness on 12/28/07 in Site Items
2007 was quite a year. This is a year where I considered shutting down all my sites alltogether. 2007 was a year that I “did” decide to move towards unification of some of my sites including the merger of Aximsite and Mobilitysite. 2007 also marked quite a few accomplishments for my sites as well as some milestones for some of my friends sites. I want to highlight just a few. I am sure I will leave out some though…
We’ve given away more then $10k in devices, reviewed a ton of the most advanced Windows Mobile Phones, and posted plenty of news and commentary about our lovely Mobile World. Oh, don’t forget that we also celebrated our 5th Birthday too!
We spawned a couple side blogs that cover some items in a bit more detail… Those would be GotZune.com and Tiltsite.com.
YouTube - One thing that I have been doing to enhance the content here at Mobilitysite is doing video 1st looks at the cool phones and such that we receive here for review. Doing this on YouTube has also drawn quite a following there while at the same time, creating content for here. I noted this on my personal blog last week, but our YouTube stats are quite impressive now. We have 1021 subscribers to our YouTube Channel and we just passed 1 Million Video Views. We have uploaded 105 videos to YouTube. I am considering an attempt at a “show” on YouTube.
Aximsite/Mobilitysite - Merger of the forums seems to have been a nice move and things seem to be running great now.
Mobility News - We will hit 6000 Posts before Dec 31, 2007. Jack Cook, Myself, and Susan are pumping the news out I think? GASusan2005 will hit 1000 posts soon after the New Year.
Now for some news from some friends…
Gear Diary - My buddy Judie Lipsett created Gear Diary a little more than a year ago. She recently celebrated her 1 Millionth visit. I wish I knew how many visits we have had. I don’t keep stats.
PDAdb.net - On December 27th, PDAdb.net team announced the availability of 1000th device datasheet in the World’s largest PDA database. That’s quite impressive. This is something I wanted to create a few years ago, but couldn’t find the right developer to help make it happen and it fell by the wayside, glad to see it worked out for PDAdb.
What do expect for 2008? Since this is all just a massive hobby for me, I don’t set expectations really. (yes, I work 40 hours a week somewhere else) I plan to move forward in effort to make Mobilitysite the best it can be covering Mobility Topics. We will continue to focus on Windows Mobile, Pocket PC, Smartphones, UMPC, and Some Media Player items.
What suggestions might you have for us moving forward? What can we do to make your visit more enjoyable?
