CES 2008: Linksys Strengthens Home Networking Leadership With CES Debuts

New Products, Features, and Technology Extend Leadership in the Wireless-N Category with Streamlined Industrial Design, Simplified Setup, and Enhanced Network Management Capabilities

From the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Linksys, a Division of Cisco, the leading provider of VoIP, wireless and networking hardware for the consumer and small business environments, today announced several additions to its Ultra RangePlus family of Wireless-N products that will extend the Linksys leadership position in the home networking space.

Products from the Ultra RangePlus family that will debut at CES include
the Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT310N), the Wireless-N Broadband Router (WRT160N), the Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Notebook Adapter (WUSB600N), Dual-Band Wireless-N ExpressCard Adapter (WEC600N), and the Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter (WGA600N). Also being showcased at CES is Linksys EasyLink Advisor (LELA), an enhanced network setup and management tool that serves as a “Network Advisor in a Box” to consumers.

WRT310N and WRT160N - Featuring a sleek, consumer-friendly industrial design that includes the new enhanced RangePlus internal antenna technology from Linksys, the WRT310N and WRT160N were created to complement the aesthetics of virtually any home. The products represent an evolution from the traditional Linksys product look and feel.

Also evolving with the launch of the WRT310N and WRT160N is the setup
process for Linksys routers. A new user interface, flash video-based guided
installation, and simplified terminology that doesn’t require a knowledge
of networking jargon make setting up a wireless network easier than ever
before.

Dual-Band Wireless-N- Joining the award-winning WRT600N router in the Dual-Band Wireless-N category from Linksys are the WUSB600N, WEC600N, and WGA600N. Dual-Band Wireless-N offers consumers the ability to enhance their network performance by utilizing the broader 5.0 GHz wireless spectrum for high-bandwidth applications, such high-definition video or gaming, and the 2.4GHz spectrum for all other network content. The WUSB600N and WEC600N provide desktop and notebook PC users greater network coverage, while gamers can attach a WGA600N to their console if they would like to utilize the enhanced speed Wireless-N offers.

WiFi Protected Setup - The new Ultra RangePlus Wireless Routers are the first products from Linksys to ship with WiFi Protected Setup certification. Wi-Fi Protected Setup is an optional certification program from the Wi-Fi
Alliance that is designed to ease the task of setting up and configuring
security on wireless local area networks. Both the WRT310N and WRT160N
includes a button that enables consumers to add additional devices to their
network by simply pushing it and the corresponding button on the other
certified product.

The WRT310N and WRT160N are all available now through select Linksys
e-commerce resellers, retailers, or VAR partners, while the WGA600N,
WUSB600N and WEC600N are scheduled to be available soon. Estimated street prices are as follows:Linksys press release
