MWC: Viigo Keeps Blackberry and Windows Mobile Smartphone Users in the Loop

image Viigo Inc., a leading developer of mobile application software, announced today that it has just released a special 2008 Mobile World Congress Channel that delivers up-to-the-minute Congress press releases, news, blogs, events, and alerts on Blackberry or Windows Mobile Smartphones.

In addition to following a range of World Mobile Congress coverage, Smartphone users will also have access to a wide variety of regularly-updated content from Viigo’s Channel Library. Mobile World Congress attendees and non- attendees can quickly and easily subscribe to a wide array of content and services, such as special interest news, blogs, sports, weather, entertainment, market data and more — creating a powerful handheld companion.

“We’re excited by being able to give users the ability to make the most of Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress, whether they’re on-site or not,” says Viigo’s President and CEO, Mark Ruddock.

Viigo has also been selected as one of the showcase applications that Microsoft is using to demonstrate the power of the Windows Mobile Platform. Viigo’s latest version of its services platform — code-named “Project Tango” — is due to be released in Spring 2008, with sneak previews being shown daily in Microsoft’s booth - 1D19(1_0).

The Viigo mobile services platform circumvents the limitations of the mobile browser and provides companies with the fastest possible way to mobilize content. It delivers a highly optimized wireless experience that addresses the challenges of delivering content to mobile devices and does so in a clean, efficient and highly engaging manner.

  1. I just installed the MobilitySite Viigo software yesterday afternoon. I did a soft reset and ended up having to go through safe mode twice before my xv6800 would start back up in “regular” mode.

Everything worked just peachy until the next time I had to reset (after installing Office Mobile 6.1 upgrade). This time I was in a safe mode loop.

I eventually uninstalled Viigo as a last resort and booted right up, no problem.

I’m going to keep troubleshooting to see if I can work around this since the software was actually really slick. If I can get things going smoothly again, I can see myself using this a lot.

  2. Sorry to hear about your ordeal with it. I never had a problem with viigo before, it could be the WM version you are running. I am not sure. I have been using viigo on my blackberry for about 6 months, and I never had a single problem with it, it is fast, and it runs fine in the background.

  3. I have used the MobilitySite version of Viigo on an xv6800 for several months now without a problem.

  4. Yeah, I’ve worked out my issue. Seems I go into a safe mode loop when I reset with the microSD card in. I just uninstalled half my apps trying to work out what the problem was and finally had the flash of insight to take it out. Voila!

Viigo is working flawlessly and I can reset properly. Two thumbs up!
