Not A SkyFire Beta Tester Yet? Hang On…

pc_capture37

I have been using Skyfire now for about a month, and really like it. There are a few UI issues, but all and all,  it has worked very well in my Non 3G Town I live in. You can check out my First Impression by CLICKING HERE. Of course, with all the good press SkyFire has been getting, it has attracted a lot of attention. I have a ton of contact form emails and comments on my First Impression Review on “How can I get it?” Well, SkyFire is backed up as you can well imagine:

On March 1, we reached critical mass for our immediate beta needs and created two phases for our beta program – Betas 1 and 2. If you signed up

between February 8 and March 1, you are in Beta 1. If you signed up after March 1, you are in Beta 2. We created these two groups so we can manage demand, and the only difference between the two is timing. It’s our way to ensure we can sufficiently support everyone as well as leverage all of your feedback to influence a stellar 1.0 product.

Beta 1 is happening now and each week we extend invitations to download Skyfire on a first signed up, first invited basis. It will take us several more weeks to get to everyone signed up during the Beta 1 period. Rest assured, we will get to everyone in Beta 1 by the end of April.

At the launch of Beta 2, all Beta 1 users will automatically be added to Beta 2 with no action required on their part.

So when will Beta 2 Roll out? Read more after the break!

With the rush of Beta Testers and feedback, SkyFire must be burning a lot of Midnight Oil trying to keep up! Especially with the fact that it is going to be free! So when is it you ask? Well, from the horse’s mouth:

Beta 2

At this point, we do not have a firm date for the launch of Beta 2. However, we know it will be sometime in Summer 2008. We can tell you with certainty that it will be worth the wait as we have many exciting new features in the works. For those of you in Beta 2, you will be notified by email as soon as we launch Beta 2. You will be invited to download Skyfire on a first signed up, first invited basis starting with sign-ups on March 2.

I cannot wait to see what improvements SkyFire comes up with on their second Beta Test. I hope that the project doesn’t fall flat on it’s face. There is a lot of promise for them. So hurry up SkyFire!

More to come so stay tuned!

  1. I signed up twice - before Feb and during the “first round” and didn’t get in, unlike what they claim. I’m hoping they’ll open the beta earlier than later.

  2. I have registered my device for beta 1 and 2. I got text message link everytime to authenticate my phone, but have not gotten a .cab yet. ;(

  3. Got the .cab from somebody else, installed but won’t connect… says my number is not on the beta list… we’ll have to wait…

  4. I signed up on January 29 and still have not recieved my invite. They keep saying it’s on a first signed up basis and I signed up on the second day. Does that mean that theyonly did the first day so far?Something’s not right.

  5. i signed up for the beta february 28 at 10:00am central tmd, and received my invite 3 weeks ago. i dont think they’re able to keep up with the demand for their product.

  6. Just wanted to let you all know that Skyfire is currently hiring. Check our web site career section. Looking for some real rock stars.

You might also check out G4’s “Attack of the Show” for their comments on Skyfire.

  7. I have an HTC Touch with Windows Mobile 6.0. The browser isn’t good unless you go to a mobile site. I am anxious for Skyfire and signed up for 2 in May as soon as I found out about it. Do you still think it will be coming this summer?
