HP iPAQ 910 Unlocked on Amazon for $499

This is the HP iPAQ that was announced so long ago I had to check back to be sure… Yep, way back in September 2007. We posted a couple weeks ago that it was finally coming. Well, thanks to Wayne over at Gear Diary for the link we now know that Amazon is selling this iPAQ for $499 unlocked. Don’t get too excited though, Amazon’s "normally ships in" time is 1-2 months. What’s that mean?
No matter how long it take to get here, it’s going to suffer the same problem that the iPAQ 6900 series has a few years ago. It’s going to come out so far after it was announced that it’s been surpassed by other devices in desirability.
Key Features:
- Unlocked for use with quad-band GSM 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, or 1900 MHz service provider and SIM card (Note: phone does not come with service or a SIM card)
- Business-oriented smartphone with Windows Mobile 6 and tri-band HSDPA 3G connectivity (850/1900/2100 MHz)
- 3-megapixel camera with video capabilities; synchronize music and video using Windows Media Player
- 802.11b/g Wi-Fi; Bluetooth for stereo music streaming; a-GPS receiver; MicroSD memory expansion to 4 GB
- 1940 mAh lithium-ion battery for extra-long talk and standby times; measures 4.5 x 2.5 x 0.6 inches (HxWxD) and weighs 5.4 ounces

iPaqs used to be the gold standard in PDAs, the one to beat. It is sad to see them now bungling basic execution.
Between HP and Motorola, how the mighty have fallen in this space.

It used to be that iPaqs would appear just a few weeks after they were announced, sometimes only a few days..and even then there was always a device or two that would be a surprise in the release. I remember pouring over photos of upcoming devices, trying to work out the specs and details HP wouldn’t release until the last minute.
I still regret never getting an iPaq 4700.
The Compaq Ipaq 3135 was my first PDA/Pocket PC (had a black and white screen…lol) and from then I had a great love for them, but then HP bought Compaq and since then the Ipaq devices have been going down hill.
I really like the look of the 910, its like a Moto Q for Windows Mobile Pro users, but I’d love to see a higher res screen on it….at least batt. life should be great.
