Samsung Blackjack III in Korea

20080710085943640 Samsung announced its successor to the Blackjack line, a 3G HSDPA BlackJack III (SCH-M480) today in Korea. It will be called the Ultra Messaging 2 in Korea and will be available from mid-July through SK Telecom.

The Phone’s specs are as follows:

  • Windows Mobile 6 Professional
  • 802.11b/g
  • Bluetooth
  • 2.6-inch touchscreen display with 320×320 pixel resolution
  • BlackBerry style keypad and finger mouse
  • 2M camera
  • MP3/MPEG4 and WMV files support
  • Micro SD card slot

All I can say is that this phone looks frighteningly terrific, especially that Treo style square touchscreen, and should do a lot to shake up the QWERTY smartphone market this summer.

  1. Looks very similar to the Mirage (SGH-i780) that’s been available in Europe for some weeks now… similar specs.
Have to say the one thing I didn’t like on the Mirage was the touchpad mouse … prefer a real D-Pad

  2. thats not the SCH-M480, thats the SCH-I780.only available for europe so far.i want 1 though. bye bye BJII when it comes to usa

  3. Same phone, different model number. It is the SCH-M480 in Korea/Asia.

  4. Is this just a Korean version or is there a possibility it will be released in the states?

It looks the same as the phone that is thought to be the next Blackjack 3 in the USA (http://www.myblackjack3.com) but the model number seems very strange. Do the model numbers change between countries possibly?
