Problems with the Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM?

My XDA Orbit 2 has NIL BT functionality now with my car HFP module, since upgrading to WM6.1; GPS fixes take forever; battery life worse.

Anyone got a link to a good ROM that works?

I can't use 3g with WM 6.1. I installed the rom from HTC, and the phone stopped connecting to 3g. It would only connect to GRPS and Edge. I flashed the rom back to the 1.62.502.0 version on the htc site, and 3g came back. I tried a couple of cooked roms, but they wouldn't work either. Has anyone heard of this?

Horizontal typing was invisible with keyboard open/closed. However, once I disabled ClearType in KaiserTweak the problem resolved. I was able to leave ClearType selected in the phone settings (Start/Settings/System/Screen/ClearType). Thank you both for your help! I dreaded the thought of reinstalling 6.1 and the rest of my programs!

The upgrade went smoothly. However, the one problem obvious to me is that I can't see characters typed when the screen is horitizonal. Problem exists w and w/o the keyboard extended. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is this a bug? Is there a fix?

can anyone offer solutions to the problems listed here instead of just bitching about everything?

I cannot get bluetooth file share to work,since the 6.1 update.I am gonna have to flash back and forth to figure out what the...Dissapointed!

If you want a new toy to play with like voice command, threaded sms, go ahead and upgrade. But it's at the expense of loosing several MB's of device memory, not being able to use clear type in landscape mode, strange flickering when taking your phone out of standby mode, programs vanishing from your storage card, and so on and so forth.
The phone is not to blame, but the OS, and ATT for forcing all there crapware on us.

I recently upgrade to 6.1 and now cannot conncet my phone via bluetooth to my car... what the blood clot...I thought it was suppose to be better

Wow, I was just about to upgrade my Tilt from WM6.0 to WM6.1, but seems to a lot of people having problems. I would just like to get a vote --- upgrade or not?

Having same problems with blank white screen flashing durinh hibernation. Phone still locks up 5-10 times a day. Replaced the phone. No change. Love the concept of the phone but hate the bugs. Will not waste my money on another HTC product.

I had a problem with my 8GB card too. I lost about half the files and folders that were on it. Anyone know what is going on? Anyone else have this problem?

If you have Clear Type enabeled, disabel it. That is one of the many bugs in WM6.1

After 6.1, when I have the keyboard slid out in landscape mode the soft keys show up Blank? For example when I try and reply to an e-mail or save a website to my Favs, the white box appears where all of the choices should be, but the box is blank?

Yea, i saw the device go back to sleep immediatly after wake, for the first couple days.But not since.I usualy put the device to sleep with the power button instead of letting it fall asleep.I thought that might be why,But now I dont see that either way it goes to sleep.Still seems to get better,Less Buggy every day.I was only getting 8 to 10 Hours battery before the update,seems a little better now,but I have also been using the power management features of Kaiser tweak for the last month.

The new 6.1 ROM has been, for the most part, rock solid for me. My Tilt is running faster than it did before, the battery life is (slightly) improved, and the device seems more stable overall. Even the built-in Voice Command is working good over Bluetooth.

The ONLY issue I have, albeit a minor one, is that once in a while when I wake up the device (using the power button when the screen is off, NOT when it's powered off) it will sometime go back to sleep immediately. Pressing the power button a second time wakes it up again without issue. This happens about once every five times. Like I said... a very minor issue.

Wow, Megatec, that totally sucks.I assume you made sure the card was seated properly,removed and reinserted the card. Will the card take new files? Or is it fried? Did you leave the card in durring update? Did it work after the update? Were your files backed up somewhere else? Mine are not,But I will back them up tonight. Thanks for the warning.

I powered off my phone during recharge. When I powered up and tried to use a program. I discovered that everything had been removed from my 8gb storage card. Anyone else experience this?

The first time after the update, Google map took Maybe 2 min. to get a GPS lock. Every time I have tried it since then, It takes less than 30 sec.(IE and TCPMP(over bluetooth) were running at the same time) My fav.video site didn't work till I reinstalled Adobe FP7 for the second time.Maybe has to do with the order the applications were loaded? The device itself is intermittanly slow.The more I use it the better it gets.I'm coming off an 8125,Have had the Tilt for Maybe 6 months.At first I thought it wasn't working right AT+T sent another.I got used to it and kept the first one.It just seem to get better as it gets more use.

Anyone has any word on if we are going to recieve fixes for this buggy ROM :

1. Quick GPS not connecting.
2. White Screen issue when Display is turned-off.
3. Some Online Videos stopped working that used to work with earlier ROM
4. Overall slow operation.. Sometimes, for unlock button to scome-up it will take 4-5 seconds..

Mike- YES! GPS takes forever to get a lock. I have Live Search and Tom Tom. John- Look for the ROM from Not A Treo Fan. Everyone is raving about it. It's based on the 6.1 Official ROM.

I installed the update on my tilt and now my internet won't work. I called Att and told them what happened, and in turn they called htc to see if there is a fix for the problem, but there isnt. Since at&t recommends the update, they take responsibility for it, and my new tilt is on the way.

could someone here recommend some cutom roms based on the oficial one that are faster? there are too many to choose from over at xda. thanks

I haven't even updated my tilt, and it already seems like a bad idea. the warrantee on my tilt expires on feb of next year. I have replaced it onece (cause of excesive use). I use the GPS from google maps. will this install affect my tilt?

So I am having some issues too.The most bothesome is how slow the device has become. I was able to get Tcpmp working,thanks to XDA. kaiser tweak also helps. Not sure why IE keeps dumping history and Whatever gets cleared when you manualy clear the memory, but I don't mind. Active Sync doesn't come on by itself anymore :-) The onscreen keyboard pops up,but closes itself right away,I like that.Slow GPS could just need another radio rom? But overall,I am ready to try "custom" roms from XDA. That was a good question D Griffen. Always looking for suggestions and tips. XDA is great but not simple.

I have been using DK3 full by Garmin. It has 6.1 and works super fast and stable. Best Rom I have put on my tilt.

Why is it the chefs at XDA can crank out a fine tuned ROM in LESS THAN A WEEK but HTC/AT&T can't do it with a YEAR???

Problems with IE only worked with WiFi

Battery did not last a full day, with minimal data use.

I did download NATF 6.1 ROM without the bloatware and changed the Radio and it seems to working much better.(XDA)

I had the same problems with the backligth timeout until I used kiaser tweaks to disable the power management functions

It sucked so bad I went to L26's V12 ROM within a day.

The backlight issue is a real nuissence. I set it for 3 mins and the phone auto changes it back to 10 secs. The phone lights up for no apparent reason every so often when it's connected to my PC. The trim function in HTC Audio Manager doesn't work anymore. It will periodically freeze up when I try to run multiple apps. Usable memory has decreased about 30M on both storage and program. Not really sure what I "gained" yet.
