ZNax - a Totally Addictive Game for Windows Mobile (Freeware)
Posted by Gil Bouhnick on 10/31/08 in Software
OK, this one is freaking me out.
This game is making me sick! I don’t eat, don’t drink (enough coffee), I can’t stop playing with it!
3 Minutes, all you need to do is find the biggest rectangles from the same colors and mark them, that’s all!
So simple, so nasty!
I am finding myself playing with it every time I have the chance. (My current record [after around 30 games] is 7,500 - can you compete with that?)
BTW, the images are taken from another game I like: Shift (but it’s not the same developer).
Don’t download this game, it will just make you waste all of your good time.
Don’t try it out and don’t install it - even though it’s for free.

Motorola Spills the Beans on Windows Mobile 6.5
Posted by Chris Leckness on 10/31/08 in Windows Mobile 6.1
It’s no secret that Microsoft is working on Windows Mobile 7 now. It’s also been put out there by 3rd parties that Microsoft is “behind” on WM7. Last I checked, Microsoft (not one of their vendors) has never given the world a date for WM7 anyhow, so who cares.
Either way, Moto CEO, Sanjay Jha, let the cat out of the bag that there is possibly something between 6.1 and 7.0 on the way. Windows Mobile 6.5 Anyone?
“Windows Mobile 6 has not delivered the experience that I think Apple has been able to deliver, but as you look at the plan that Windows Mobile 7 and even 6.5, I think there are significant new added features which will help the platform.”
The story states that a Motorola handset sporting “Windows Mobile 6.5″ will be released in the second half of 2009. More as we get it on this. We know nothing about this OS, so it’ll be interesting to see what develops.
Of course, this is rumor and you shouldn’t get too excited, but we shall see.

Windows Mobile 6 Deadline is Today, Hurry!
Posted by Chris Leckness on 10/31/08 in Windows Mobile 6
If you are putting off upgrading to WM 6 on a phone that has it available, today may be your last chance to legally download the software an get yourself WM6.
For those of you that have the HTC S621, HTC S620, HTC P4350, HTC P3300 or the HTC Advantage and if by some chance you have NOT upgraded the ROM to WM6, if you want it you only have a few days left to get it. According to a HTC Support Bulletin, October 31st is the last day to take advantage of the free upgrade to Windows Mobile 6. They have indicated that the upgrade link will be removed from HTC’s website at 12:00 pm (noon) GMT on October 31st. If you haven’t upgraded yet, this may be the last chance you will have to get it otherwise you will be stuck with your current version.
What version do you have? To check it, go to Start > Settings > System tab > About.
Change – The Cloud Paradigm
A change is definitely coming, no matter what your views on the upcoming US election…only this change is in the way you work and play using PCs. I am becoming more and more convinced that the future of computing, for good or bad, resides in the cloud. Over the last several months, I have been observing a slow, subtle shift in the focus of new technology to support this new paradigm. It isn’t something that will happen all at once, or due to some game-changing new product or release…it is a gradual, incremental process. In fact, it is already well advanced and the shifts I have been observing have been more to set the stage for greater changes to come.
Cloud computing has many obvious advantages for mobile technology, but also some glaring deficiencies at the moment. However, the signs that the industry is moving further and further into cloud computing as at least a viable option for the enterprise or individuals are too numerous to ignore.
White pages in your caller ID
Here is another application I found today for my Android Phone that I find a must have. It’s called Caller ID from White Page and here is a video that shows how it works.
The application can be downloaded free at Android Market Place.
Free AT&T WiFi? … Say it’s TRUE!
Zach over at the Boy Genius Report posted earlier about the BlackBerry Bold being added to AT&T’s FREE WiFi list but now an update to Zach’s post indicates that apparently AT&T’s free WiFi now applies to all smartphones. Cool!
Supposedly this was the plan…so check it out at your nearest Starbucks and let us know if the free WiFi deal is working for you!
Skyfire … try it, you will like it!
I’m sure you have heard of Skyfire and I’ll bet many of you have already tried an initial beta. I saw today that there was another beta that has been released and according to jkOnTheRun, Skyfire promises no waiting to get invited to this beta version.
So give it a try …. I have and I have liked it Skyfire is only supported in the US on Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms and you need a Windows Mobile (5 or 6), or a Nokia N or E series (3rd edition) phone.
Check out Skyfire and Register here
Smartphone sized …. means very tiny
There has been a lot of chatter lately about “netbooks” and here is one that I caught today on AVING USA. WOW, is it small! Imovio has introduced its smartphone-sized netbook ‘IKIT’. It has a 2.8-inch display and is running on Marvell PXA270 312MHz processor and Linux OS. It has a full qwerty keyboard (although you really need tiny fingers), wireless LAN, Bluetooth, a 0.3M webcam and microSD card slot and measures a mere 95X65X15mm and weighs in at 11g.
I think I would rather carry a Windows Mobile device…..
At the end, both are the same…
Let’s put a little bit of humor into the Mac vs PC controversy.
Review - OnCourse Navigator 8
Posted by JakeRich on 10/29/08 in GPS, Mobilitysite Reviews
A couple of years ago I reviewed OCN6 and gave it a pretty good rating. Now the folks at OnCourse Navigator have updated the software and maps, and the good news is that a good system is now even better. OCN8 has again raised the bar for routing and mapping applications.
Testing Environment
I tested OCN8 with a Dell Axim X51v with Lenny’s L11 ROM of WM6.1 and with an ETEN Glofiish X610 also running WM6.1. With the Axim I used two different BlueTooth GPS receivers including an i-Blue 757 receiver and a GlobalSat 338. The X51v has been upgraded to 128 Meg of RAM, the X610 has the original 64 Meg.
Installation
Installation is still dead simple. When you buy the system you get a micro-SD card with the software and maps on it, plus a micro-to-mini adapter and a mini-to-SD adapter. The combination allows you to use the system in just about any device that can read any size SD card. The 2 Gbyte card is “straight” SD, the 4Gbyte is SDHC. I tested the 4GB version.
Sonos Controller Launched for the iPhone
Posted by Chris Leckness on 10/29/08 in iPhone
Control your Sonos System with your iPhone, for free. Well almost free, you have to have a Sonos obviously. I have really like what I’ve seen from those guys at tradeshows. I got one hell of a demo at the Engadget Party in Boston 2 years ago. Anyhow, here ya have it…
The Sonos Controller for iPhone™ is a free application that turns your iPhone (or iPod® touch) into a full-fledged Sonos Controller. Plus, it uses the familiar touch-screen interface and fits in your pocket so you can carry it with you all over the house. Best of all, you can download it for free on the App Store in seconds. Just grab your iPhone and simply touch the screen to pick a room, point and flick to pick a song, and then hit play. Grouping zones and searching tracks has never been easier. You can mix and match Controllers (CR100, Desktop Controller and Sonos Controller for iPhone) for maximum flexibility. Or get started with Sonos using the iPhone you already own and one or more ZonePlayers spread throughout your house.
Head over to Sonos for a demo video and some other goodies…Thanks Kaity.

Customize your Sliding Panel Home Screen
Here is a great tip from Mike Temporale for over at Mobile Jaw on how to “Customize the New Sliding Panel Home Screen on Windows Mobile 6.1″. If you have a Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard then I know you have been playing with the new sliding panel. Mike shows you how to modify the panels and their order and if you want, you can add new panels as well.
How do you do it? Simply edit the corresponding xml and registry settings. Mike did say that the answer may have been easy, but actually doing it can be difficult for some. So what is the solution?
Enter CHome Configurator from mind of tlogix over at Smartphone: Nuts & Bolts. This utility will ease the pain of customizing the new sliding panel home screen to your liking. CHome Configurator allows you to add new panels, and modify or delete existing panels without having to mess around with xml files and registry settings. Best of all, this utility is FREE!
