Mother’s Day Idea - Memory Kit MicroSD Adapters
Posted by Chris Leckness on 04/21/08 in SanDisk
Here is a great idea for Mother’s Day, 2GB Sandisk Memory Kit. In the past, one of the best gifts I have given to my wife and mother is the old digital photo frame. I set them up with a nice slideshow and they go over really nice. This is a nice spin on memory cards that makes it easy for the woman in your life to move cards around. I am not characterizing women here, I just know my wife has such a time trying to figure out how to move photos from her camera to her PC, so I assume there are others out there with the same issue.
SanDisk is providing a single product with multiple adapters to be used in any SD, miniSD or microSD slot in any device. The microSD Mobile Memory Kit provides a flexible solution for mobile users who need a card for multiple SD devices. This kit allows one product to be the solution for any SD, miniSD or microSD based phone or device. Easily transfer, save and enjoy your favorite content across multiple SD based devices with one card.

Sandisk Sansa Fuze Video 1st Look
Posted by Chris Leckness on 04/2/08 in Mobility Site Videos, Music Players, SanDisk
I’ve enjoyed the Sansa series of players from Sandisk in the past. They are priced well and work as advertised. When Sandisk announced the Sansa Fuze, I knew I had to take a look.
The Sansa Fuze comes in 5 colors (Blue, Black, Red, Pink, and Silver) and come in 2gb, 4gb, and 8gb sizes. In addition to the built in flash memory, the Fuze also has a MicroSD slot. You can get more info on the Sansa Fuze at Sandisk.
Well, I’ve gotten the 8GB Silver Sansa Fuze and you can check out the video below for the unboxing, device comparison, and 1st look at the UI. I also decided to do something new with this video. Since Mobilitysite has 1400+ subscribers on YouTube, I thought it would be nice to reward one of the YouTube followers. I have a contest going on over at YouTube so double click on the video to visit the page on YouTube.
Thanks for watching.

SanDisk FlashBack Adapter Turns SD Memory Card Into Convenient and Protected Backup Solution Inside Laptops
You’re at a conference and someone spills coffee on your laptop PC, shorting out the system and cutting you off from your presentation and notes. Or your computer slips out of your hands and crashes to the floor. These are moments that everyone dreads, but today SanDisk Corporation unveiled a rescue option — a lifeline for laptop users called the SanDisk FlashBack Adapter. This unique device fits into the ExpressCard slot of your PC, automatically and continuously backing up and encrypting critical data onto an SD flash memory card.
Whether your PC suffers a system failure or a full hard drive crash, the SanDisk FlashBack Adapter allows you to access your content safely from the memory card. Designed for the millions of newer notebook computers that have an ExpressCard slot, the SanDisk FlashBack Adapter offers a reliable, easy-to-use system to protect critical files by copying them automatically and instantly to an optional SD or SDHC memory card of any capacity. And with the backup card nesting completely inside the laptop, the system is literally out of sight. Nothing protrudes from the PC and nothing needs to be attached to any other port.
The SanDisk FlashBack Adapter is being demonstrated this week at the annual CeBIT electronics show, at Booth D59, Hall 26 in the Hannover convention center.

Toshiba and SanDisk to Expand NAND Flash Memory Production
Posted by gasusan2005 on 02/19/08 in SanDisk, Toshiba
Toshiba Corporation and SanDisk today announced that they have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to form a new production joint venture and construct a new 300 millimeter (mm) wafer fab in Japan to build on and further their industry-leading positions and meet the anticipated future demand for NAND flash memory. The two companies will now select the plant site, targeting a production start-up date in 2010. This latest announcement underscores the commitment of Toshiba and SanDisk to the rapidly expanding market for NAND flash memory, which has become the storage technology of choice for a growing number of consumer and computing devices, including memory cards.
Fifty percent of the new fab’s production capacity will be allocated to the new joint venture. Within the joint venture the parties will equally share wafer output and funding for the equipment. The remaining 50% of the Fab’s production capacity will be managed by Toshiba and half of the output will be provided to SanDisk on a committed foundry basis. The agreement provides SanDisk an option to convert its committed foundry capacity into the joint venture or to convert to a non-committed foundry arrangement. Construction of the new facility is expected to start in calendar year 2009.

SanDisk Corporation and SK Telecom Co., Ltd. today announced that the companies have completed the development of a new solution for mobile television and mobile personal video recorder (PVR) capability.

“By combining our proven, industry-standard OMA DRM version 2.0-compliant DRM solution and services, TrustedFlash security technology and mobile storage solutions from SanDisk, we can set new standards for secure content recording and distribution,” said Dr. Se-Hyun Oh, president of C&I Biz Company, SK Telecom. “Together, SanDisk and SK Telecom can create new usage and business models that allow mobile TV users to have more freedom to enjoy the purchased content and allow mobile TV operators to adopt a variety of pricing and business models.”

SanDisk UltraII Line Picks Up Speed and Boosts Capacity with New 32- AND 16-Gigabyte SDHC and 8GB SDHC Plus Cards
Posted by gasusan2005 on 02/1/08 in SanDisk
Designed for Camcorders and Digital Cameras That Capture Still Images and Video, New SanDisk Cards Offer 50 Percent Faster Read and Write Speeds; 32GB Is Industry-Leading Capacity
Giving photo enthusiasts the freedom to take more pictures and shoot more video, SanDisk Corporation today increased both capacities and speeds in its SanDisk Ultra II line with the introduction of 32- and 16-gigabyte (GB) SDHC cards and an 8GB SDHC Plus card. The announcement was made at the photo industry’s PMA 08 International Convention here.
Ideal for today’s camcorders and point-and-shoot digital cameras that can record both video and still images, the cards offer faster read and write speeds of 15 megabytes per second (15MB/sec), up from previous speeds of 10MB/sec read and 9MB/sec write in the SanDisk Ultra II line.
“As cameras offer more megapixels and as new high-definition ‘record-to-memory-card’ camcorders are being introduced, the image sizes and files get bigger, requiring higher card capacity,” said Susan Park, senior product marketing manager for SanDisk Ultra II cards. “Cameras also are increasingly used for recording video clips, which demand even more memory and capacity. These mega-capacities in our SanDisk Ultra II line give users the worry-free ability to capture thousands of their memories and hours of HiDef video on a single card, while the faster write speed can reduce the time between shots and the faster read speed reduces time spent waiting to copy those images to a computer,” she added.
