New eReaders coming from iRex
Posted by ctitanic on 09/22/08 in eBook Reader
iRex is about to start selling a new eReader, the 1000 which will be sold in 3 different versions, the 1000, 1000S and 1000SW. Starting price? About 650 dollars! I really don’t think that that’s the way to go. eReaders should be cheaper. It’s like printers, they are cheap because they are going to get your money anyway selling you the toners and cartridges.
Sony Reader Hits Target
Posted by Zealot on 09/13/08 in Sony, eBook Reader
The sudden surge in ebook readership continues, as the following information was released yesterday by Sony in a Press release.
This weekend, the Reader Digital Book by Sony will be available in Target stores nationwide. Beginning September 14, the PRS-505 model will be featured in the "Discovery Hub" endcap in the electronics section of all 1,634 Target stores. With the purchase of a Reader, consumers will also receive a coupon code to download a free copy of The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory from the eBook Store by Sony. The Other Queen is slated for release on September 16.
Alongside the device, the endcap will display Reader accessories including: eBook Store prepaid cards, Cover with Light Accessory, AC Charger and a Crocodile pattern cover with pouch for AC charger and USB cable.
I have been reading ebooks almost exclusively for quite awhile now, first on my Tungsten C and Clie TH-55, now on my Moto Q, Eee 701 and iPod Touch. The fact that the Kindle has pushed ebooks into the mainstream is a good thing for the entire industry and many different devices, such as the Sony line of Readers are reaping the benefits. For a device like this to be featured by a chain like Target is yet another step forward.

Tell editors what you want to read
There is one gadget that I use more than my cell phone and believe it or not sometimes even more than my lovely P1610, this gadget is my Kindle. Today I read that there are more than 150000 books converted by Amazon and editors to eBook. And the best news, they have created a way to tell editors what you want to read in your Kindle if it not available yet in the Kindle Store.

Using amazon kindle outside of the US
Posted by ctitanic on 07/30/08 in Kindle, eBook Reader
Here is a blog post that explains how you can still using the Kindle if you don’t live in USA.
Guide to getting an Amazon Kindle working outside of the US and downloading books outside the US. This is targeted at people who have a Kindle, but don’t have a US billing address to purchase books.
A very smart workaround. And I don’t blame people for trying these methods because there is nothing like reading in a Kindle.
What am I reading in my Kindle
Posted by ctitanic on 07/29/08 in Kindle, eBook Reader
What am I reading in my Kindle? That’s a good question. I have read a lot since I got my Kindle and I going to start posting little by little about these books that I have read or I’m currently reading on it.
Generation Kill is not just the latest HBO Series but a book by Evan Wright and a book that shows truth behind the Iraq War, how is to be there and who are the young guys fighting that war.
The HBO TV Series is not good enough. It does not picture the psychology behind these soldiers in the way that the book does it. You can support the war or you can be against the war and in either case this is a book that I recommend to read.
This book is available in eBook format at Amazon and can be found here.

You can imagine, this is a big news within the “Kindle Community“! Even when they say that it’s not a news.
This is not really news, it’s just note-worthy. US Magazine has snapped Jennifer Aniston with her very own Kindle becoming the the first(?) celebrity to own a Kindle.
Well, here it’s, may be is not a really news, it’s just note-worthy… I, Ctitanic, own a Kindle too! ![]()
Kindle Software version 1.04
Yesterday my Kindle was updated automatically by Amazon to version 1.04. I have not noticed anything new or different. But I have to say that I’m extremely happy to see an update process so well thought. I left my Kindle in standby in my bed and went to our kitchen to drink a glass of water, and when I came back I noticed that there was a different standby picture shown on it, I exited the standby mode, checked the version number and there it was a new version. Do you want something simpler than that?
