Everun gets a SSD

Raon Digital is refreshing the Everun product line adding a new model with SSD instead of existing HDD, all this according to news published at Aving USA.

The EVERUN S32S Dic is SSD version of its previous model, adopting 32GB SSD instead of existing HDD. One remarkable feature of the EVERUN S32S Dic is ‘SayDic’, its electronic dictionary function supporting TTS(Text to Speech) and native speakers’ pronunciation.

The SSD will help the performance of this small UMPC a lot. The Everun is not one of the faster UMPC in the market and for sure you wont want to use it with Vista but with XP and a SSD it will be enough for a big portion of the market.

Everun with Wibro released

20071226134615187A new version of the Everun was released in Korea according to news posted at Aving USA:

Raon Digital announced the launch of ‘EVERUN Wibro(model:S60H Wibro’ in Korea market. The EVERUN Wibro is a touched-up version of its previous model adding Wibro wireless Internet module. The previous model used to connect a modem through USB port, but this one has built-in Wibro module and allows users to get subsidy from KT. The EVERUN Wibro has AMD LX900 processor and 60GB HDD. Suggested price is 799,000(KRW).

Wibro is what we know here in USA as WiMax. Should I say “we know”? Well, I hope that year 2008 will change the overall situation with WiMax in USA.

The Everun, a little PC to take everywhere

There is a long path between the first UMPC made by Raon Digital, the Vega and the Everun. If you compare the two devices you will end noticing the extremely good quality in the finishing of the Everun. When you hold this device in your hands it feels solid, well made, well designed.

Can you play 3D games on the Everun?

The Everun from Raon Digital is not the faster UMPC available. You already may know that but it does not mean that you can’t play games on it. In fact I have found that thanks to the amount of hardware keys and the inclusion of a mouse, this machine in one of the most comfortable available to play games on it. Of course, you have to find games that do not need a video card with hardware acceleration. And again, that does not mean that you will have to play bad looking games or those games that nobody wants to play. In my tests I was able to play Quake II and Nuke 3D! Check this short video:

Note:Thanks to Dynamism.com for providing the Everun for these tests.

Can you run Google Earth in an Everun?

As you may already know I have been testing lately an Everun. And I’m running all kind of tests on this machine. So far I like the combination of 6 GB SDD and a Hybrid HDD. To have your OS installed in the 6 Gb SDD helps a lot the overall performance and at the same time this combination is not as expensive as if you are buying a 40 or 60 Gb SSD. One of my tests was to open Google Earth in the Everun and I shot a short video of it so you can see with your own eyes how is the performance during this task.

The Everun on this video was provided by Dynamism.

How big is the Everun

Yesterday somebody asked me to shoot a picture of the Everun close to a Pocket PC or a Phone to get an idea of how big is this UMPC, and I’m sure that many of our readers will recognize the PPC shown in this picture:

Unboxing the Everun

Today I received a package coming from Dynamism: the Everun. This post is just to show the box and what was inside of it and to share my first impressions about this UMPC without having turn it on for the first time. I have shot a few pictures to document this short note because to me high resolution pictures work a lot better than any video review where the device is left in a secondary role and no details can be seen.

The first two pictures show the box which quality reminded me the one from the Samsung Q1.
