HTC Fuze Official ROM Update
Posted by Chris Leckness on 05/28/09 in At&t, Fuzesite, HTC
HTC has been busy lately. Launching new phones, updating old ones. Excellent!
Here is an official updated ROM for your HTC Fuze, you know, the AT&T Branded Touch Pro 2 that just got upended by the Touch Pro 2 as my favorite! Here is what HTC says this ROM brings…
- Microsofts Windows Mobile Adaptation Kit Update (AKU) 1.4.6
- Slide to Answer
- Push To Talk Button is now re-assignable
- FM Radio Application
- Enhanced MS Voice Command
- Call waiting indicator is now audible when using Speakerphone
- HTC Music player supports Album art/info
- Improved TouchFlo3D (TF3D) and User Interface performance
- A-GPS Update: Speeds up the time it takes the GPS to get a fix on your location
- Quick GPS is still recommended for the optimal operation of GPS based applications and services
Make sure to head over to the page for the ROM and follow the directions carefully, I would hate for someone to fry their Fuze!
AT&T Fuze, LG Incite, or Palm Treo Pro?
Posted by Chris Leckness on 12/2/08 in Fuzesite, Opinion
I have grown to like all 3 devices over the last month and I have used each for at least a week. Last week, I mentioned that the Palm Treo Pro had won out the spot as my daily driver, but I am taking a mulligan now.
I reviewed the Palm Treo Pro and the AT&T Fuze and I really like them both, but in the end, the Slide out QWERTY keyboard won out. I like both keyboards, but the slider in my opinion is easier to use. I took the time to mod the AT&T Fuze to look and feel like my Tilt. I turned off TouchFlo 3D and installed SPB Mobile Shell and HTC Home.
Until yesterday, I had been using the LG Incite, but I was much less productive with email and texting with it. They onscreen keyboards just don’t like me and I don’t like them. I tried several 3rd party keyboards with the Incite, but it just wasn’t the same.
Free HTC Fuze from Let’s Talk

Not exactly sure how they are making money on this or what they are really about, but this is a smoking hot deal. This website has offered other stellar deals in the past, but the catch (as is with Amazon) is that you normally have to be a “new” customer. Either way, it’s worth looking into if you can score a Fuze for free! Head over to Letstalk.com

If this isn’t proof enough that the rumors of tomorrow’s launch isn’t enough, how is this…
Not sure if it will let you complete the order, but you are welcome to head here and give it a whirl.
WM Experts Review of the AT&T Fuze
Posted by Chris Leckness on 11/10/08 in At&t, Fuzesite
Just a day before the apparent November 12th launch of the AT&T Fuze, WM Experts puts up their review of this highly anticipated, hot device.
The Fuze is a powerful and polished Windows Mobile smartphone. If you don’t mind needing two hands to type and you’re on AT&T, the only reason I see not to upgrade is if you’re holding out for the Xperia X1. Even compared against the X1, however, the Fuze more than holds its own. The high resolution screen, decent performance, small form factor, and included software mean that it really does deserve the ‘next gen’ moniker I gave it at the beginning of the review.
My quibbles: Battery life is only barely adequate, I wish there was a 3.5mm headset jack, I did experience occasional lag, and I do think that there’s still too much UI dissonance between Windows Mobile and TouchFlo 3D. Experienced Windows Mobile users know how to get around all of those issues, though, and if that’s you, then the Fuze just may be in your future.
Check out the full review at WM Experts and stay tuned for my opinions and photos soon!
Finally Something Solid Looking, AT&T Fuze on Nov 11
Posted by Chris Leckness on 11/6/08 in At&t, Fuzesite
There has been rumored date, speculated dates, and more for the last couple months on when the AT&T Fuze is going to launch. This is a pretty anticipated release for some too. Again, Boy Genius Report has gotten their hands on some stuff not meant for public consumption, but it does let us know when to finally expect this hot phone.
- No Commitment : $499.99
- 1 Year Contract w/o $50 MIR : $424.99
- 1 Year Contract w/ $50 MIR : $374.99
- 2 Year Contract w/o $50 MIR : $349.99
Looks official enough for me. I think I can hang my hat on this date. Head over to BGR for a couple other “not for public consumption” docs too.
Live Shots of the HTC Fuze

I am not going to comment on the release date and as I said yesterday, I don’t thing today is the day, obviously. :)
Good news though, a user at XDA Devs has got some live shots…

BGR is calling for a Black Friday launch, we shall see.
AT&T Launch Dates Revealed
Posted by Chris Leckness on 09/18/08 in At&t, Fuzesite
BGR got their hands on an official looking, leaked document that details some launch info for the holiday season. The Fuze is what many are calling the “replacement” device in AT&T’s line up for the Tilt. Many of you know the Fuze as the HTC Touch Pro.
- HTC Fuze will launch on October 23nd
- Motorola V9x (new V9 with GPS) launches on October 2nd
- Samsung Mirage i907 (basically our version of the Omnia) launches on October 21st
- Pantech C740 in red, navy, and green launches on October 14th
- Nokia 6650 launches in red and silver on October 23rd
- BlackBerry 8320 in that totally cool color launches on October 21st
- BlackBerry Pearl in pink launches on October 2nd
- The BlackBerry Curve in “burnt orange” is pushed to “2009″.
- The regular BlackBerry Curve is discontinued
- The Palm Treo 680s are discontinued
Of course this is not confirmed, but BGR has a way of uncovering (leaking) internal AT&T documents somehow.
