I have not had the opportunity to play with the HTC Diamond yet so there are a variety of features that I am unaware of.  Today I saw a piece on Jason Langridge’s WebLog on how you can Disable and Switch Off Mute Call On Phone Flip Face Down Feature in HTC Touch Diamond.  What a cool feature!  I guess some folks want to turn it off and if you do, here is a link to My Digital Life that gives a quick and easy registry hack to do that.

HTC-Diamond

The HTC Touch Diamond comes with a 3-axis accelerometer that senses the orientation of the phone, and is able to mute the incoming call ringing tone audio alert if the user flips the phone face down.  Very cool!

The HD, Diamond and Pro

The folks at CNET Asia got their hands on the family of HTC devices and took a family photo.  WOW, does the HD look huge compared to the Diamond and Pro (but in fact it is the size of the iPhone).

So if you had a choice, which one would you want?

HTC’s Touch White Diamond

My guess is that if Liz Taylor caught this post from Engadget Mobile  she will be getting one to compliment her perfume collection.  Evidently a Danish site found that HTC will be introducing a white version of their popular touchscreen device come October.

Engadget Spanish has confirmed that it will be coming, so if white is your preferred device, check it out here at Tele Online.

Sprint’s HTC Touch Diamond: September 14 for $249

According to an article a PC Magazine article on Yahoo, the Touch Diamond will be available on Sept. 14 from Sprint for $249.99 with a two-year contract and $100 rebate. This pricing info and date were leaked out by the Wall Street Journal folks who reviewed the phone. I won’t talk about this laughable review though. Anyhow, Sasha Segan from PC Magazine had this to say…

The Wall Street Journal broke the news today about Sprint’s version of the HTC Touch Diamond, a Windows Mobile smart phone with a touch screen and a new, 3-D interface.

The Touch Diamond is a small, slab-style smart phone with a 2.8-inch high-res VGA screen, and it puts a cuddly interface of large icons over Windows Mobile’s PDA-style home screen. TouchFlo 3D isn’t just a home screen, either; HTC and Sprint have written a custom YouTube application, a customized version of the Opera Web browser, and a customized media player to try to make Windows Mobile more palatable to consumers.

I don’t really care what the WSJ has to say about something not made by Apple and I hope that you would do the same before casting judgement on the HTC Diamond.

It’s all in the eye of the beholder …

There will be a number of official accessories for the new diamond and the folks at Tracy and Matt’s Blog got a photo of the official desktop cradle.  It looks really nice but then I saw a picture of the iPhone over at Engadget Mobile and I started to think about the design.  When the iPhone first came out it looked pretty slick but as I look at the Diamond, it is very definitely slick!  Sort of makes the iPhone look passe.

The Diamond vs. iPhone

The folks at Engadget Chinese were able to get some comparison shots of the Diamond and the iPhone and it looks pretty good.  I think it may well be a “contender”!

O2 Xda diamond - A Quick Look

Arne Hess from the::unwired got a hold of a pre-production unit and has some pictures and brief thoughts that you might like.  In part, Arne said:

Like HTC’s version, also O2’s smartphone features a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera without flash on the back and in the upper right corner on the front a VGA video telephony camera which can be used for self-portraits as well. Unfortunately there’s no hardware shutter button for the camera anymore which means you either have to start the camera from the Start menu or from HTC’s TouchFLO 3D Today screen UI.
