Customize your Sliding Panel Home Screen
Here is a great tip from Mike Temporale for over at Mobile Jaw on how to “Customize the New Sliding Panel Home Screen on Windows Mobile 6.1″. If you have a Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard then I know you have been playing with the new sliding panel. Mike shows you how to modify the panels and their order and if you want, you can add new panels as well.
How do you do it? Simply edit the corresponding xml and registry settings. Mike did say that the answer may have been easy, but actually doing it can be difficult for some. So what is the solution?
Enter CHome Configurator from mind of tlogix over at Smartphone: Nuts & Bolts. This utility will ease the pain of customizing the new sliding panel home screen to your liking. CHome Configurator allows you to add new panels, and modify or delete existing panels without having to mess around with xml files and registry settings. Best of all, this utility is FREE!
Zune 3.0 and a Double Cheeseburger?
Zealot just let us know that the Zune 3.0 software is Available NOW, so do you like the $1 menu at McDonald’s? How does getting FREE Wi-Fi at McDonalds sound as you scoff down that Double Cheeseburger? Sounds good to me and I think it will sound great to a lot of folks. Today, along with the Zune 3.0 software there it is a deal for Zune owners to get free Wi-Fi access at McDonald’s.
According to CNET News, Wayport (the Wi-Fi provider for McDonalds) will be making it very easy for Zune users to access music on the go by providing Wi-Fi that does not have a browser interrupt. So when you get that new software for your Zune, head over to McDonalds, grab a burger and enjoy the FREE Wi-Fi!
JGUI’s GPS.Friend
Here is a pretty cool program that allows you to your current geographic location and request a friend’s phone to give you his or her location.
In just a few seconds, or a minute, you can review your position on the map, with no worry about pre-installed maps, because it’s downloading from the Internet.
The second, and even maybe a more important possibility of this program is, in the same short time, you can “ask” someone’s phone (who has this program installed too), about his/her current location. In reply you review his/her position on the map, and the calculated distance and direction between yours.
This program is freeware as long as it’s enough for you, to get own location and receive someone’s external location, ONLY ONE TIME DAILY.
If you want to get several times, unlimited times daily, you may buy and unlock this program to the fully-operates version.

Foundation to be established to provide royalty-free open platform and accelerate innovation
Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and NTT DOCOMO announced today their intent to unite Symbian OS, S60, UIQ and MOAP(S) to create one open mobile software platform. Together with AT&T, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Vodafone they plan to establish the Symbian Foundation to extend the appeal of this unified software platform. Membership of this non-profit Foundation will be open to all organizations. This initiative is supported by current shareholders and management of Symbian Limited, who have been actively involved in its development. Plans for the Foundation have already received wide support from other industry leaders.
To enable the Foundation, Nokia today announced plans to acquire the remaining shares of Symbian Limited that Nokia does not already own and then contribute the Symbian and S60 software to the Foundation. Sony Ericsson and Motorola today announced their intention to contribute technology from UIQ and DOCOMO has also indicated its willingness to contribute its MOAP(S) assets. From these contributions, the Foundation will provide a unified platform with common UI framework. PDAmill Game Studios Offers FREE Games for Palm OS Platform
Several years ago, PDAmill developed many great titles for the Palm OS platform. However, in February of 2007 the decision to stop development for the Palm platform was made and the products were then discontinued.
Until now, all of these titles were only available to customers who had purchased the games in the past. Due to an incredibly high demand, they have now released all of their past Palm titles for FREE!
However, please be advised that these titles come with no warranty, no support, and may well not work on your device (the very reason we discontinued development for the platform). If you have any troubles with the games, do not contact support as you will not receive a reply.
Enjoy!
Features
-
Full, unlocked, completely playable games
-
Support for 320×320 and 480×320 Palm OS 5 devices

AT&T & Starbucks
Posted by Jack Cook on 04/25/08 in Wifi / Bluetooth
AT&T Inc. and Starbucks announced the beginning of the rollout of AT&T Wi-Fi service at company-operated Starbucks stores, kicking off a nationwide effort that will continue through 2008. The companies have already started the deployment of AT&T Wi-Fi service at Starbucks locations in San Antonio, making it the first market to deliver the complete AT&T Wi-Fi experience in the U.S.
Also, as of May 1, qualifying AT&T high speed Internet and Wi-Fi customers will have complimentary Wi-Fi access at more than 7,000 Starbucks locations nationwide. For millions of AT&T customers, that means more speed in more places — and for free — is on its way.
And as of May 1, qualifying AT&T customers can connect to the Internet from Wi-Fi enabled company-operated Starbucks locations nationwide by simply selecting “ATTWiFi” after powering up their computers. Free AT&T Wi-Fi service is currently offered with AT&T’s three higher-speed residential broadband packages, all small business broadband packages and with all AT&T U-verse offerings with high speed Internet service.
