Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 First Impressions … WOW!
Posted by Jack Cook on 06/16/08 in Pocket PC Phones, Sony Ericsson
Looks like the Boy Genius Report got their hands on the XPERIA by Sony Ericsson and their first impressions are WOW! Great specs from your local flavor of UMTS/HSDPA, to an optical joystick, to the 800×480 VGA screen, and they loved the “cool funky notification lights”!
They say they can’t wait to play with a final production unit so I guess you would have to assume that they were impressed. Are there flaws? Yup but you will just have to wait for their review to find out about them but in the meantime, check out their picture gallery by clicking on the picture above.
RAM Mounts - Strong, Tough, Secure & Near Perfect

I am fortunate that I am now able to spend an immense amount of time traveling to those places that I have always wanted to visit and when I go someplace new I usually use my Pocket PC with TomTom 6. It is a great program and always gets me where I want to go but sometimes I really want to “adapt” the route I have to travel and if it is a long trip adding “vias” using my Pocket PC can prove to be a tedious task.
In the final analysis, I prefer to use DeLorme’s Street Atlas USA on my Sony Vaio laptop, LS800 tablet or SonyUX because I can easily plan my route on my PC and import the route onto those devices. Ease of planning is a huge factor and using the “bigger screen” often proves to be a big advantage. But the issue is how do you deal with the bigger device? I have a great mount for my Pocket PC that adapts to virtually all of my phone devices but it won’t adapt to my bigger devices and even if it could, it just is not durable enough to handle a larger heavier device. So the search began to find a great mount and it stopped at RAM Mounting Systems.
When I first visited their site and started to look at their solutions I could see that the products were “heavy duty”, yet designed to be as unobtrusive as possible without compromising the ultimate reason for using a RAM Mount …. security for your device. I was convinced that I wanted a suction cup mounting system for ease of use and I was sure that I wanted to get one that I could use my Sony UX with.
Digital Noise Canceling Headphones from Sony
Sony has a new headset out that might make your music enjoyment a lot better. These headphones are touted as being the world’s first digital noise canceling headphones for the traveler from Sony.
The MDR-NC500D are the first ever headphones to use digital technology with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve noise cancellation performance while ensuring optimum audio quality. A powerful processor inside the MDR-NC500D automatically adapts the cancellation profile to suit the characteristics of ambient noise.
They are BIG in size but they are also BIG in sound reproduction. Rated for 15 hours operation between charges with the supplied lithium ion battery, the MDR-NC500D shuts out distracting noise for the longest continental flight or train journey and a terrific feature just in case you run out of power on an overseas flight, it can also operate using disposable AA cells.

AT&T’s mobile TV service to run Sony movies
I’m not sure if this is a feature I would care to have for a variety of reasons, the biggest being signal strength. All to often, signal strength severely limits how fast you can get information from the web but it appears that AT&T does not think it is an issue because they are getting ready to launch two exclusive mobile TV channels using MediaFLO USA Inc.’s technology. Called PIX, mobile TV subscribers will be able to watch movies any time and place they go. The titles will be available for a month with new titles added weekly.
Will you pay for and watch movies this way or would you prefer to “make your own” and save them to your device for viewing?
